無患子－先民肥皂的代用品

學名： Sapindus mukorossi Gaertn
英名： Sopa nut tree , Chinese soap berry
說明： 無患子又名目浪樹，係落葉喬木，株高15公尺。偶數羽狀複葉，小葉5~8對，互生，卵狀披針形，葉基歪形，左右不等，長9~12公分，葉柄有稜角。萼片5，花瓣5，白色或淡紫色，雄蕊8，柱頭三裂。核果扁球形，熟時黃綠色。種子一粒紫黑色。吉祥語：「含笑、合歡、無患子」。
原產地： 台灣海拔1000公尺以下 闊葉林，份佈印度、日本等地。
用途： 1.種子可以作念珠，佛教有諺「無患子念珠功德千倍，水晶念珠功德百萬倍，菩提子念珠功德無數倍」。 2.果皮可代替洗濯衣物。 3.成樹1~3月落葉前轉金黃色，甚為美觀，適作行道樹，庭園樹。
